BPC Students in Upcoming MATHCOUNTS Competition

On February 8, 2014, members of BPC's Math Team will be headed to the MATHCOUNTS Competition.  The MATHCOUNTS Competition Series is "the only competition program of its kind, with live, in-person events in all 50 states." With competitions taking place in over 500 local chapters, BPC will participate in East Bay Area Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition at UC Berkeley on Saturday, February 8 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Competition Series have the school, local, state and national level. It is "ideal for students who have a talent and passion for math who need to be challenged. Students will engage in exciting, "bee-style" contests in which they will compete against and alongside other bright, motivated students. Students win hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes every year." (website)

BPC students came in the 2nd place in Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition and in the 14th place in the State MATHCOUNTS Competition in 2012-2013.  Here are the BPC representatives for the 2013-2014 competition!  Good luck, Math Team!




UPDATE 2.13.14:  Black Pine Circle Math team has come in the 2nd place in the Bay Area Chapter Mathcounts Competition 2014 for the third year in a row. There were 17 middle school teams and over 120 students competing for the right to advance to the State Mathcounts Competition. BPC Team has advanced to The Northern State Competition that will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Stanford University in the William R. Hewlett Teaching Center, School of Engineering. All BPC mathletes have been placed among the top 20% of participants.
